Associate Professor Zhen Li from the College of Aerospace and Civil Engineering Wins the 2024 IAAM Young Scientist Award

Recently, Associate Professor Zhen Li from our college was awarded the IAAM Young Scientist Award by the International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) in recognition of her significant contributions to the field of "Advanced Composite Materials". She was also invited to deliver an award-winning report entitled "Nano titanium oxide-engineered corrosion resistance concrete for marine infrastructures" at the International Advanced Materials Congress, introducingthe latest research achievementsof theteam.

The International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) is a renowned international academic organization in the global advanced materials field, headquartered in Sweden. It is committed to providing a high-level academic platform for the rapid development of advanced materials science, engineering, and technology worldwide, and currently has more than 80,000 members from over 125 countries. The "IAAM Young Scientist Award" is selected globally by the association based on researchers' contributions to the advanced materials field in recent years. The selection process includes multiple stages such as expert nomination, submission of resumes by nominated scholars, review by the IAAM Academic Committee, offline or online academic lectures, and final evaluation and award presentation. Ultimately, it is awarded to researchers who have made important contributions to the field of advanced materials science and technology, in recognition of their remarkable achievements in their professional fields.

The High-Performance Engineering Structures and New Materials Team,where Associate Professor Zhen Li is from, focuses on the urgent national needs in fields such as island and reef ecology and security, nuclear facility and structural safety protection, and national defense engineering protection. The team has carried out extensive research on the action mechanism of high-performance and multi-functional concrete materials and the improvement of structural performance. The team has achieved a series of original scientific research results in the safety and protection of concrete engineering structures under extreme working conditions such as marine environments or severe accidents.

Associate Professor Zhen Li obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees from Harbin Engineering University, and her doctoral degree from Dalian University of Technology (during her doctoral studies, she was sponsored by the China Scholarship Council for joint training at Northwestern University in the United States). Her main research focuses on high-performance and multi-functional nano-composite concrete materials and structures. In recent years, she has published more than 20 academic papers in leading journalsof the field,with a total impact factor exceeding 90 and more than 1,000citations). She holds 2 authorized invention patents and hasdelivered 12 invited/oral reports at international academic conferences. She has presided over and participated in nearly 20 national and provincial-level scientific research projects, including National Key R&D Program projects, General/Youth/Overseas and Hong Kong-Macao Scholars Cooperation Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Currently, she serves as an editorial board member/young editorial board member of 5 journals such as Nano Materials Science (Q1, IF: 12.6) and Materials Research Letters (Q1, IF: 8.6), a committee member of 5 branches including the Civil Engineering Composite Materials Branch of the Chinese Composite Materials Society, and the deputy director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Advanced Composite Materials Structures and Mechanics.
