In September 2024, the Stanford University in the United States, in collaboration with the Elsevier database, released the "Global Top 2% Scientists List 2024". Based on the Scopus database, this list uses 6 indicators such as citation counts, H-index, and MH factor to select the top 2% of scientists from nearly 7 million scientists in 22 fields and 167 sub-fields, according to their "lifetime impact" (from 1960 to 2023) and "annual impact". The list comprehensively evaluates scientists' long-term research performance and influence, including two rankings: the "Lifetime Scientific Impact Ranking" and the "Annual Scientific Impact Ranking". Among them, the "Lifetime Scientific Impact" focuses on the overall influence of researchers throughout their academic careers so far, while the "Annual Scientific Impact" focuses on the academic achievements of researchers in the current year.
Professor Linzhi Wu and Professor Fengming Li from our college were selected in the "Lifetime Scientific Impact Ranking". Meanwhile, four scholars—Professor Linzhi Wu, Professor Fengming Li, Professor Zhiguang Song, and Associate Professor Zhen Li—were included in the "Annual Scientific Impact Ranking". Being selected in both rankings indicates that our scholars have achieved high international influence in the field of mechanics, garnering significant attention from the global academic community. This also lays a solid foundation for further enhancing the discipline's global reputation.
