Training Objectives:

This program belongs to a national first-class undergraduate professional construction unit. It is a provincial key major and a virtual teaching and research office of national engineering mechanics specialty. It follows the school motto of Great Engineering Towards Perfection, Great Learning Towards Distinction. The goal is to cultivate students who can contribute to national development, adapt to future advancements in science and technology, possess strong humanistic qualities, uphold professional ethics, and demonstrate a sense of social responsibility. Graduates of this program are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of systematic and solid basic theoretical knowledge of mathematical mechanics, excellent theoretical analysis, numerical calculation and experimental skills. They should be able to engage in advanced science and technology in education, scientific research, technology development, engineering design and other work in mechanics and related scientific or engineering fields (such as shipbuilding, civil engineering, aerospace, energy, machinery, etc.)

 

Cultivation Features:

The civil engineering program adheres to the teaching guidelines of solid foundation, broad vision, emphasis on practice, ability improvement, and strong quality, and cultivates innovative practical engineering and technical talents with knowledge, ability, quality, and coordinated development. Adopting a "3+1" training model, in the first three years of undergraduate studies, in addition to undergraduate courses in civil engineering, courses of University of Aberdeen are also offered, including Introduction to Civil Engineering, Fundamentals of Engineering Materials I, Fundamentals of Engineering Materials II, Engineering Design and Calculation, Thermodynamics, Civil Engineering Fluid Mechanics, Electrical and Mechanical Systems, Mathematical Analysis, Engineering Geology, etc. In the fourth year, excellent students were selected to continue their studies at the University of Aberdeen in the UK, completing other professional courses and obtaining a "Double Bachelor" degree.

Workplaces: China Construction First, Second, Third, Sixth, and Eighth Engineering Bureaus, among the world's top 500 companies and their branches, such as China Railway Construction Group.

Institutes and universities for further education: Tongji University, Hunan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Dalian University of Technology, China University of Mining and Technology, and Harbin Engineering University.

More choices: Because students have excellent language skills and overseas experience, it is easier to apply for master's or doctoral degrees in world-renowned universities, such as University College London (UCL), Imperial College London (ICL), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), University of Chicago (UC), Columbia University (CU) and so on.
