The College of Aerospace and Civil Engineering at Harbin Engineering University (HEU) dates back to the Department of Aerospace Engineering, which originally established by the tactical missile section of the Missile Engineering Department at PLA Military Engineering Institute. The college offers four undergraduate majors: Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, Aircraft Design and Engineering, and Aircraft Power Engineering. Notably, Engineering Mechanics, Aircraft Power Engineering and Civil Engineering have earned recognition as national first-class undergraduate major construction points. Civil Engineering has received professional evaluation and certification from relevant authorities. Additionally, Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, Aircraft Design and Engineering are considered key majors in Heilongjiang Province. The Virtual Teaching and Research Section (VTRS) of Engineering Mechanics is among the first batch of VTRS construction pilot projects approved by the Ministry of Education. The college holds the authority to grant master and PhD degrees in first-level disciplines, along with a postdoctoral research mobile station in Mechanics. Specially, master’s degrees encompass three first-level disciplines: Mechanics, Civil Engineering, and Aerospace Science and Technology, and two professional degrees in Civil Engineering and Water Conservancy and Machinery.
The college has a faculty of 138 faculty members, including 118 full-time teachers, among whom there are 29 professors and 57 associate professors. Currently, the college has 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1 national leading talent, 2 young talents, and 4 members of the Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education. Leveraging the support of key laboratories like the Advanced Ship Materials and Mechanics Laboratory and the Aircraft Trans-media Technology Laboratory, both under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), as well as Provincial Key Laboratories in Heilongjiang Province, such as the Advanced Composite Materials Structural Mechanics Laboratory and the Disaster Warning and Engineering Defense laboratory, the college is primarily engaged in advanced ship composite materials and structures, aircraft intelligent materials and structures, advanced engineering structural mechanics and safety evaluation, thermal engineering fluid mechanics and safety technology, overall aircraft trans-media technology, trans-media power technology, vehicle dynamics and control, elastic fluctuations and impact dynamics, reliability and optimization design and other related areas.
Over the past five years, numerous national-level scientific research projects have been added to the college’s portfolio, including the National Key R&D Program, key programs supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The college has seen steady growth in research funds, totaling 300 million yuan. Their achievements include over 530 SCI papers published, 13 provincial and ministerial first prizes and other scientific research awards, more than 200 invention patents, and over 120 software copyrights.
